NEEL and GALLAND-SAS at The Power Suply Commission of IGKM (Chamber Of Commerce Urban Transport)

On 9-10 October in Warsaw the next meeting of the Power Supply Commission of the Chamber of Commerce of Municipal Transport took place. The meeting was co-organized by TRAKCJA Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Kolejowych i Inżynieryjnych S.A.

The agenda of the Commission included such issues as:

• formal issues: lawsuits, easement, compensation at the traction power infrastructure (cable lines, poles, suspensions of networks to buildings);
• influence of the driver’s cab on electricity consumption - theory and measurement results;
• improvement of energy efficiency - methods and results;
• modern equipment of the overhead contact line;
• new materials in the production of network accessories;
• overload capacity of rectifier units;
• new design challenges in the field of traction power engineering;
• election of the President of the Commission for the next term of office.

On the second day the participants of the Commission visited the Technical and Parking Station used by Szybka Kolej Miejska Sp. z o.o. in Warsaw.

NEEL Sp. z o.o. was present at the meeting with the French company GALLAND-SAS, of which it is the Polish representative. GALLAND-SAS is a world-famous manufacturer of equipment of overhead contact line, operating on the market for over 70 years. The company's products are used in 25 countries on 6 continents, including high speed railway lines. Several world speed records have been set on railway lines equipped with GALLAND-SAS equipment.

During the meeting an offer prepared for Polish trams was presented:

• Automatic gas tensioning device AERO 480 and AERO 1000
• Modular aluminium suspension system for SMCS overhead contact line
• CMCS Modular Composite Overhead Contact Line Suspension System - a completely new solution for railway and tramway traction
• 750 V (JG1646) sectional insulator with very long service life and reliability
• Special stay arms (JG1780) for applications under viaducts and tunnels

The above-mentioned equipment enjoyed great interest from the participants of the Commission. This is particularly true of the innovative AERO device, a copy of which is currently being tested by MPK at Poznań Sp. z o.o. The aluminium suspension of the SMCS overhead contact line type, the model of which was shown at the NEEL/Galland stand, also attracted a lot of interest. The design developed by GALLAND-SAS especially for PKP PLK, after minimal changes turned out to be a very attractive alternative to composite suspensions commonly used today in the tramway overhead contact line.
