The NEEL company was established in 1993 by a group of former employees of the Railway Scientific and Technical Centre (now: Railway Institute) in Warsaw.
In years 1993-2012 the main scope of the company's activity was development and production of microprocessor automated systems of electric current supply for the railways traction of 3kV DC (for railway) and the 600V DC (trams). These devices constitute part of the state-of-the-art traction stations equipment constructed on the basis of the so-called 'distributed intelligence' utilizing the CAN-BUS type of the computer buses. Our devices have been installed in 54 modern PKP (Polish State Railways) traction sub-stations and in a couple of tram sub-stations.
Over 140 PKP section cabins and over 100 PKP traction sub-stations have been equipped with a system developed by NEEL: it is EUU type electronic dependencies system, that has replaced previously used central-type devices.
In years 1997-2006 NEEL developed and installed the "MSOW" heating and air-conditioning testing system for passenger carriages stationed at three PKP rail terminals. The system enables: testing of the heating and air-conditioning systems, current measurements, defect localization, as well as preliminary warm-up of carriages awaiting for the connection to a locomotive.
Since 2003 the production offer contains also the absolute novelty on a world scale - animal deterring device "UOZ-1" designed for high-speed railway lines. These devices were installed on the railway tracks of the E20 railway line between Minsk Mazowiecki and Siedlce during its modernization in years 2003-2004. Next applications were installed at the E65 line Warszawa – Gdańsk and at the E30 line. In November 2012 the system UOZ-1 was installed on two sections of the Russian Railways RZD: Moscow - St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg - Helsinki.
We have a Quality Management System approved by the organization ISOQAR, compliant with ISO 9001.
In 2016 NEEL became a signatory of the Declaration on the development of a culture of safety in railway transport of the Polish Office of the Rail Transport.
The most valued prize in the rail industry is Ernest Malinowski Award for the most interesting product and technical innovations in the railway industry.
During the International Railway Fair TRAKO 2009, the NEEL company from Warsaw was awarded with this prestigious prize for Animal Deterring Devices UOZ-1 for high-speed railway lines. The UOZ-1 system is an innovatory and world-unique solution preventing collisions of wild animals with trains. A complex research conducted by a team of scientists from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) confirmed the effectiveness of the devices. The cost of protecting a railway line with UOZ-1 devices is significantly lower than building under- or overpassages for animals in combination with wildlife fences. Railway managers from all around Europe are interested in this solution.
