About Us
The NEEL company was established in 1993 by a group of former employees of the Railway Scientific and Technical Centre in Warsaw.
The main scope of the company's activity is the development and production of microprocessor automated systems of electric current supply for the railways traction of 3kV DC (PKP) and the 600V DC (for trams). These devices constitute part of the state-of-the-art traction stations equipment constructed on the basis of the so-called 'distributed intelligence' utilizing the CAN-BUS type of the computer buses. Such devices have been installed in 11 modern PKP (Polish Railways) traction sub-stations and in a couple of tram sub-stations.
Over 140 PKP section cabins and over 100 PKP traction sub-stations have been equipped with a system developed by NEEL: it is EUU type electronic dependencies system, that has replaced the old and faulty exchange devices used by PKP so far.
In years 1997-2004 NEEL developed and installed the heating and air-conditioning testing system for MSOW-type passenger carriages stationed at three PKP rail terminals: Przemyśl-Bakończyce, Szczecin-Zaleskie Łegi, Częstochowa, Warszawa-Grochów. The system enables: testing of the heating and air-conditioning systems, current measurements, defect localization, as well as preliminary warm-up of carriages awaiting for the connection to a locomotive.
The production offer contains also the so-called "transformer boxes" (type ZTS-1, wattage: 5 or 7.6kVA) to supply current to the junction turnout electrical heating of points and the absolute novelty on a world scale - animal deterring device "UOZ-1" designed for high-speed railway tracks. These devices were installed on the railway tracks of the E20 railway line between Minsk Mazowiecki and Siedlce during its modernization in years 2003-2004.
ERNEST MALINOWSKI AWARD
The most valued prize in the rail industry is Ernest Malinowski Award for the most interesting product and technical innovations in the railway industry.
During the International Railway Fair TRAKO 2009, the NEEL company from Warsaw has been awarded with this prestigious prize for Animal Deterring Devices UOZ-1 for high-speed railway lines. The UOZ-1 system is an innovatory and world-unique solution preventing collisions of wild animals with trains. A complex research conducted by a team of scientists from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) confirmed the effectiveness of the devices. The cost of protecting a railway line with UOZ-1 devices is significantly lower than building under- or overpassages for animals in combination with wildlife fences. Railway managers from all around Europe are interested in this solution.
