Reactivation of the conference in Jurata and the 30th anniversary of the NEEL company

After a four-year break caused by the pandemic, on April 25-27, 2023, the 12th scientific and technical conference "Modern technologies in the implementation of railway transport investment projects" was held on the Hel Peninsula, organized by the companies NEEL and AREX and the Association of Polish Electricians.

The conference was held under the patronage of Ministry of Infrastructure, Chairman of the State Commission for the Investigation of Railway Accidents, the Office of Rail Transport, the Railway Institute and several universities. The media patronage was taken by: "Raport Kolejowy" [Railway Report], "Przegląd Techniczny" [Technical Review] and the portal "NaKolei" [On Railways]. The partners of the conference were, among others, FUK Fabryka Urządzeń Kolejowych [Factory of Railway Devices], Sensonic, DEHN, Wago, JWP Rzecznicy Patentowi [Patent Attorneys], Pixel and Multikonsult.

As usual, the turnout was good, 230 people signed up for the event. Presentations were delivered first in the main panel, and in the second part divided into three parallel thematic sessions. A recurring theme was safety issues, including collisions between trains and animals.

The main panel began with the speeches of honorary guests. Then, papers on topics of interest to all participants of the conference were presented. Particularly interesting were the speeches of the General Secretary of the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers (SEP) describing the problem of the need to store energy that is not produced and consumed in an even manner, the Chairman of the State Commission for the Investigation of Railway Accidents, devoted to the impact of collisions of trains with wild animals on the safety of railway traffic, as well as representatives of the Austrian company Sensonic presenting a very innovative way of monitoring the condition of the railway line by using a free fiber of the optical fibers running along the railway track as a line microphone listening to the surroundings of the track. An important topic of protection of patent rights was raised in the speech by the representatives of the JWP Patent Attorneys Office, paying particular attention to the problem of changes in patent law caused by the establishment of a unitary patent system and a unitary patent court as of June 1, 2023.

A very interesting event was also the speech of Mrs. Pinar Yilmazer from UIC, who - being unable to participate in the conference in person - gave a presentation in the form of a video. It turned out that such a hybrid form of speech completely passed the exam and it can be successfully used in the future

In the second part of the conference, three parallel thematic sessions were focused on the issues of railway traffic control automation, railway energy and environmental protection, safety and railway infrastructure. Many interesting issues were discussed, including the issue of cybersecurity in rail transport, new solutions for rail electricity storage, as well as an analysis of problems related to the design of UOZ-1 animal protection devices. The total number of presentations was 33, and the recurring theme was related to energy storage, safety and environmental protection. 

The planned surprise was the performance of a band of wind instruments, which with great energy presented excellent interpretations of jazz music standards. On the other hand, an unannounced second surprise for the participants during the gala dinner was a modest accent of the 30th anniversary of our company in the form of a magnificent cake.
